The Global Entrepreneurship Center is the first Global Scale-up Center focussing on sustainability and climate protection. We scale-up SusTech companies through our unique 360° support service, in the GEC Factory and the GEC Catalyst.

The GEC seeks for partnerships in the following areas:

Friedrich Barth | Founder & CEO

Friedrich studied physics, geoecology and hydrology at the universities of Heidelberg, Bayreuth, Freiburg and Galway. He has 25 years of management experience in the fields of sustainability, environment, climate, and chemistry in both the public and private sectors at global, regional level. He has held management positions at the United Nations, the EU Commission, the Ministry of Environment and most recently, as Managing Director, he has been very successful in establishing the International Competence Center for Sustainable Chemistry on behalf of the German Federal Government. Friedrich also spend many years on the management board of a medium-sized consultancy firm (IFOK GmbH), has adived industry, the World Economic Forum and the United Nations as a consultant. Friedrich established and managed several companies and organizations.

Sebastian Gronwald | Co-Founder & CFO

Sebastian studied International Bussiness at Masstricht Untiversity, with a focus on Finance & Accounting. Sebastian has been working at Deloitte for several years, after having worked for 2.5 years at a software specialist for the travel industry. There he was responsible for the financial planning and controlling of the software provider. The projects at Deloitte focused on supporting corporate clients and private equity houses in their merger and acquisition projects with the execution of financial due diligence processes and other services in connection with these transactions as well as financial consulting.

Laura Barth | Marketing 

Laura completed her bachelors’ degree in Fashion & Design Management with an emphasis on sustainability and circular economy at the AMD Düsseldorf. She has gained practical experience working for brands like Dorothee Schumacher, Stefanel and a young fashion startup winning the green product award in 2020. Laura believes in the transformation into a sustainable, circular economy through innovative business models and strategies.

Daniella Rousso

Daniella Russo | Chief Innovation Officer

Daniella Russo is the CEO and co-founder of the Think Beyond™ the leader
   of global action to raise innovation directed at the UN Sustainable
   Development Goals. Its innovation eco-system connects industry,
   investors and innovators.  Think Beyond Plastic™ is a flagship program launched in 2008, to address the global plastic pollution crisis.
   Daniella Russo is a serial entrepreneur. She has started and run
   numerous high-tech businesses, and her experience includes executive
   management from the start-up phase through an IPO (such as Frame Technology,
   Infoseek and others), as well as Fortune-500 companies (Sun
   Microsystems, and Xerox Palo Alto Research Center).
   Daniella Russo is an Associate Professor at the Middlebury Institute
   of International Studies Graduate Program in International Policy and
   Management. She serves on the Board of numerous NGOs and businesses.

Gregory Baxter PhD

Gregory Baxter| Chief Science Officer

Dr. Baxter works at the intersection of innovation and biotechnology,
   and brings a wealth of expertise in biochemistry, nanotechnology and
   entrepreneurship. Dr. Baxter is a former Program Director with the
   Divison of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships at the National
   Science Foundation, the world’s largest early-stage investment vehicle
   for startup companies.
   Dr. Baxter is the Founder and former Chief Science Officer of Hurel
   Corporation, a biotechnology company. He is the Founder and Chief
   Science Officer of Aegen Biosciences. Dr. Baxter is a long-time mentor
   and member of the Founders Board of Advisors at StartX Stanford Student
   Startup Accelerator and was a Fellow with the Innovation Accelerator, a
   public-private partnership with the National Science Foundation to
   facilitate the commercialization efforts of small businesses. Dr. Baxter
   is an Adjunct Associate Professor with the Department of Biomedical
   Engineering at Cornell University.
